Visiting the osteopath

Osteopathy is a practical ‘hands on’ treatment that includes many different techniques, from very gentle soft tissue techniques, careful specific mobilisation techniques, exercises and postural advice to specialist treatment methods such as Cranial Osteopathy or Medical Acupuncture.

When you visit the Osteopath for the first time they will listen to you, take a full medical history, and this will then be followed by a thorough clinical examination.  Your Osteopath will diagnose the problem and will then develop a specific treatment plan for you that is designed to help relieve the immediate problem in the shortest possible time.

Additionally your Osteopath will look at prevention, how best to try and avoid a recurrence of the problem, give advice on posture, work position, and suitable exercises.
